Annual International Anodizing Conference & Expo

2024-save-the-date

Save the Date

Join us at the Hilton Cleveland Downtown for the 33rd Annual Anodizing Conference & Exposition designed to be “in tune” with the needs and concerns of aluminum anodizing professionals. Every year the Aluminum Anodizers Council (AAC) gathers in the Fall to offer members an opportunity to reconnect with friends and fellow industry leaders, recharge for the year ahead, and rediscover why they belong to a dynamic industry association like AAC.

School for Anodizers Series

Level up your knowledge and skills of the anodizing process

Level I

Anodizing Essentials Workshop

This one-day class provides more than the fundamentals of anodizing.  Designed to increase the knowledge and ability of anyone involved in operating an anodizing line, Anodizing Essentials details the foundation of quality anodizing taking the learner through the entire process – beginning with the metallurgical properties of aluminum alloys commonly anodized through to the final rinse and sealing processes.

The program is designed to benefit anodizing production personnel at every level, from the line operator to the production manager, particularly if they are new to the business.

Workshop Topics:

  • Anodizing Overview and Anodizing Video
  • Metallurgy Basics for Aluminum Surfaces
  • Racking
  • Cleaning & Rinsing
  • Etch, Desmut & Bright Dipping
  • Anodizing Basics for Aluminum Surfaces
  • Power – Rectifiers & Transformers for the Aluminum Surface Treatment Industry
  • Dyeing & Electrolytic Coloring
  • Sealing the Anodic Oxide

Level II

Anodizing Quality Workshop

This all-day tutorial workshop focuses on all aspects that influence anodizing quality, conducted by industry experts, and featuring Anodizing technical presentations and table discussions.

Workshop Topics:

  • Typical topics for this workshop include:
    Anodizing in a Nutshell
  • Aluminum Metallurgy, Manufacturing, Microstructure
  • Anodizing to Meet Specifications
  • Processing Solutions for Anodizing Complex Alloys
  • Effective Troubleshooting

Table discussions feature real-life challenges with anodized samples, with leaders identifying defects and processing challenges. Attendees have a dialogue with experts to identify the cause of defects, troubleshooting and discovering solutions to take home and share with colleagues.

Level III

Advanced Anodizing Class

Anodizing concepts are discussed in scientific terms and directly tied to the engineering processes of decorative and hard anodizing. Specific attention is paid to pulse anodizing and anodizing difficult alloys, manufactured by way of cast and wrought processes. Students will come away with a deeper understanding of anodizing science and practice. By making the connection between anodizing science and practice, the student will develop new approaches to meeting anodizing process challenges, which enables the refinement of existing capabilities and expansion into new process capabilities.

Typical Class Topics:

  • Anodizing for Design and Function
  • Base Metal Microstructural Considerations for Anodizing Aluminum
  • Precision Technologies for Analysis of the Anodic Aluminum Oxide (AAO).
